I get a similar problem with the visual effects turned on and also have no text at the top of writer eg file, edit etc. If i turn the visual effects off it clears all my problems. Looks like the graphics driver still needs some work. Can we have an update on the graphics drivers for Ibex.

Daniel, thanks for the tip. I tried that but still get the flashing display, I can only make it go away thus far if I turn Visual Effects under appearance to “none”. I’ll keep working with it. Thanks for your comment though!

About your Compiz-video-flicker problem:
– Install “compizconfig-settings-manager”
– Click System/Preferences/CompizConfig Settings Manager
– Click General Settings
– Switch to Tab Display Settings
– Enable “Sync To VBlank”

It should immediately fix your problems. Please let me know if it does.

I have only been using Ubuntu for the past year and find the pod casts fantastic. They are informative and entertaining, so I will be watching all future casts. It is great to see that Ubuntu has a thriving community and to be a part of it. Keep up the good work boy’s and quit the smoking, so you will both last a bit longer.

Hey everyone. This is Evan, the main code contributor for the current spreadubuntu project.

For those interested in the SpreadUbuntu project mentioned in this podcast, a very functional website has been made. The testing server is currently on ubuntu.ec, but will eventually be moved to spreadubuntu.com

We currently feature a very advanced multilingual system, so all materials can be shared worldwide. Since source files are given, as stated in the podcast, materials can be translated and adapated very easily.

At this point in development we could actually use some feedback, as well as some new materials.
