Like you say, video editing in linux can be done, but ... whether you'll want to keep doing it long-term is another matter. My current experiences of setting up video editing in Intrepid are here (http://p-s.co.nz/wordpress/?p=237). It was OK but it would be nice if there were some better options coming down the pipeline.
