In this episode, we discuss huge Ubuntu French release party, 10 second boot times, Android on Ubuntu, new Ubuntu User magazine, Ubiquity changes, One Hundred Paper Cuts, Ubuntu Global Jam, Ubuntu Satanic edition asked to take down t-shirts, Ubuntu Free Culture Showcase deadline approaching, Archos Ubuntu netbook, Launchpad open sourcing date moved, new Ubuntu Hall of Famer: Adi Roiban
We are testing with HTML5. IE should continue displaying the Flash player, while Firefox 3.5 should play the OGV file. Safari will use QT embedded in the browser. If anything is messed up, let us know.
So far we have been supporting 5 file formats: avi, m4v, flash, ogg, and mp3. Throw in dealing with Wordpress, themes, podcasting plugins, and feeds, it is simply too much work. Our intention has always been to do video. We are going to pull the plug on the audio feeds. For a great Ubuntu audio podcast, listen to the Ubuntu UK guys at http://podcast.ubuntu-uk.org. They do an awesome job.

It doesn’t seem to work in Chrome on Windows.
@Maxo,
Which version of Chrome? The stable or dev? I have yet to see it working with Chrome 2. Can you give me a website with embedded which has worked with Chrome 2?
thanks!
Hum, is it just me or you forgot to talk about the french party (while you mention that in the summary on this page) ? Looks like you want to get some of the people who attend them :-p
@Huats,
My apologies!
You know I love talking about the French parties! I will remedy the situation in the next podcast.
No need to apologize my friend… Come to the next party and you are forgiven
Maybe you all could focus on Ubuntu regression in a few key areas instead of concentrating boot times. The real usability junk is below and not misleading wording.
1) Web cam support (brightness/no led support for cheapos),
Kernel updates frequently wipe out the drivers.
2) Remote Access to Ubuntu by way of VNC variants.
All releases after Hardy are literally useless even on my lan. Also I could no way to configure the vino-server for low graphics.
3) Pulse Audio integration – flop
4) Print page size reverts to Letter from European A4.
5) Scanner Driver’s – If the Linux netbook ever takes off there mabe enough pressure on the hardware manufactors. SANE is doing a good job not this is not good enough.
6) Still no Skype update and no open source alternative that is near even the old version.
User just want thing to work.
I use Ubuntu on 4 of my 7 computers at home.
Even with the problems I do not plan on changing.
Thanks for reading my input
